Alaska's Brown Bears are the largest land based predator on earth.  Nothing in North American hunting comes close to the exhilaration of dealing with one of Alaska's big bears up close.  When in brown bear country there is always a feeling within you; no matter how tough you are, this ground belongs to the bear!  Our spring brown bear hunts are conducted in the shadow of the Chugach and Wrangell Mountains on the whitewater tributaries of the Copper River. Although the season is open year-round in this areas, our spring hunting takes place late May-June.  The bears in this area are the most beautifully furred brown bears in Alaska.  Their fur ranges from a very light blonde to the classic Toklat or silver-tip coloration with dark under coats, lighter highlights, and nearly black legs.  Bears in the Copper River Valley have access to some protein rich salmon but survive most of the year as predators, scavengers, or berry pickers.  These bears could, more accurately, be described as very large Grizzlies.  These hunts take place in Game Management Unit 13 so the bears are classified as brown bears by Boone and Crockett and Pope and YoungSafari Club International (SCI) classifies all brown bears in GMU 13 as grizzlies.
